Název projektu:
Auxetic polymers and fabrics for consumer package goods applications (12 BE 0213 3NW8)
Popis:
A multinational company active in the fast moving consumer goods sector looks for auxetic (i.e. that expand in all directions when pulled only in one) polymers and fabrics for consumer package goods applications. The company is interested in collaborating with partners with breakthrough knowledge, intellectual property rights, and supply capabilities to produce such materials.
The term auxetic derives from the Greek auxeos, "that can expand". These solids have a Negative Poisson's ratio effect, expanding in all directions when pulled in only one.
In contrast, most common materials have a positive Poisson Ratio between 0 and 0.5, meaning that they "neck in" when they are pulled.
Auxetics derive such unique behavior from the geometric elements and topological arrangements that constitute their structure. Elastic theory allows for auxetic behavior and ratios between 0 and -1.0, and places no size requirement on the structural motifs: macroscopic and microscopic levels, nano- and molecular scale. There are numerous research articles and patents published that describe polymers, foams, and fabrics with these properties.
The company looks for partner(s) with breakthrough knowledge, supply capability, and Intellectual Property (IP) to produce auxetic materials for a range of CPG (consumer package goods) applications. These can be materials currently used for other industries that may be applicable to CPG.
Technical Specifications / Specific technical requirements:
The offered solutions should meet the following technical requirements:
- Negative Poisson Ratios of -0.2 and below
- Safe for skin contact.
- No malodors
- Neutral color
Possible approaches include but are not limited to:
- Polyolefin Polymers
- Elastic foams
- Elastic Knit or Woven Fabrics and Nonwovens.
The company is also interested in bio-based renewable solutions but this is not a prerequisite.
Potential partners will be requested to provide proof of concept samples for technical evaluation.
The company is NOT interested in:
- Laboratory concepts that have not been scaled up.
- Submissions without IP
- Submissions with no supply capabilites at different scales
