Název projektu:
Eurostars - Extensible Wind Tower (10 IT 53V2 3JBN)
Popis:
An Italian academic group intends to submit a proposal to Eurostars to develop an extensible wind tower with significant nominal power to appear in a limited period of the year. It should have an external telescopic structure, for the balance of the horizontal wind forces, plus an internal mechanism to produce the required vertical force for an inexpensive tower raising up and down. A medium industry with expertise in manufacturing wind tower for joint development of a prototype is sought.
Požadavky na partnera:
The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering of the University of Palermo has a long tradition in local and national research projects. It has more than 80 researchers, as well as structures, transportation and hydraulic laboratories covering an indoor area of about 4000 m.
The main activities are the research in the field of structural dynamics, as well as of fluid dynamics modeling.
This department plans to submit a research proposal to the EUREKA's Eurostars programme (http://www.eurostars-eureka.eu/, 6th cut-off). The objective of the proposal is to develop an extensible wind tower with significant nominal power, that will appear only in a limited period of the year. The proposed tower should have an external telescopic structure, for the balance of the horizontal wind forces, plus an internal mechanism able to produce the required vertical force for an inexpensive tower raising up and down.
If an air generator with horizontal axis is used, a side shaft is planned to guest one or all the machine blades. In the first case, a long distance control can be adopted for the tower raising; in the second case, two blades have to be disconnected by the rotor after lowering the machine at the ground level. The technology is aimed to allow raising and lowering of wind towers with working height of more than 50 m, by means of a telescopic structure with limited extra construction cost.
Benefits of the proposed structures are a reduced landscape impact, given by skyline modification and the reduction of the maintenance costs and of the tower components transportation costs.
Technical Specifications / Specific technical requirements:
The proposal is under preparation. The next deadline for proposal submission is March 24, 2011. The estimated total budget is 3ML ¬.
A non-Italian medium industry partner with expertise in manufacturing wind tower for joint development of a prototype is sought. His tasks is the building of a prototype of a telescopic tower with a minimum budget of 1ML ¬ also includes drilling and research expenses. The University could provide the site, if necessary.
