Název projektu:
In search of innovative combination of implant materials and manufacturing methods (10 NL 60AH 3JR1)
Popis:
A Dutch SME designs and manufactures implants that replace parts of the bone in the cranio maxillo facial region. The company is looking for better and more economic implant materials and manufacturing methods. Nowadays PEEK and Titanium are the materials of choice. The company is looking for a commercial agreement with technical assistance with a material supplier annex production company.
The Dutch SME, which is a spin out of a high-tech medical and industrial R&D provider which has very strong links to an academic hospital, is a designer and manufacturer of implants that replace parts of the bone in the cranio maxillo facial region. The company is looking for better and more economic implant materials and manufacturing methods. Nowadays PEEK and Titanium are the materials of choice. The company is in search for a supplier and an external production company.
Currently there are 3 major ways to produce above specified implants:
1) High Speed Milling
2) Additive Manufacturing Technology
3) Clay and Modelling.
To deliver the highest standard in implants, that replace parts (› 99 cm2) of the bone in the cranio maxilo facial region, and to remain competitive, the company is looking for more economic implant materials and manufacturing methods. To be able to compete in price, the company is faced with a few main questions:
What "new" materials could be used as a long term implant material and is ISO-10993 approved? Are there fast and economic external manufacturing methods of this material prepared to, or have an ISO-13485 certification. Is it possible to improve the current High speed milling process and additive manufacturing technology process, or are there better methods available? The challenge would be to consider other production methods and materials or combinations of both, that differ from the regular and common combinations. Open to partners with the right certification and depending on the development also willing to develop this certification parallel.
Technical Specifications / Specific technical requirements:
To specify the technical requirements; every implant is a single piece production with a different design and shape. The accuracy of the process should minimally be 0.1 millimetre. The material needs to be sterilizable. It is important that all possible design shapes can be produced, e.g. similar to free form fabrication.
