Název projektu:
Know-how and technical expertise for lightweight chassis made of wood for a special vehicle (11 AT 012L 3NNC)
Popis:
An Austrian development office and vehicle prototype manufacturer is searching for partners offering know-how in the calculation and simulation of wood. Engineering tools and experience with other materials need to be applied to wooden structures in order to further develop a light weight electric vehicle. The aim is to manufacture a chassis made of wood. The SME is looking for partners to sign technical cooperation-, manufacture agreements or commercial agreements with technical assistance.
A small-sized Austrian enterprise is focused on the development of special vehicle concepts with hybrid and electric power trains. In combining professional know-how in CAD-construction and traditional crafts they create complete functional prototypes. Within a running EU funded project they have developed a vehicle control unit for an electric power train which works with four independent electric motors. This solution offers a wide range of functions like active steering assistance and torque-power-speed control.
These high performance power trains allow new applications in next generation vehicles. On the basis of its project experiences the SME is presently working on a steerable electric caterpillar drive for a snowmobile. This electric snow vehicle could eventually lead to a new means of transport a kind of gentle and environmentally friendly "locomotion".
For further development steps they are searching for experienced and open-minded partners interested in creating a lightweight chassis made of wood. Partner activities could lie in CAD construction, light weight chassis development, coach building, boat building and should connect with the ambition to use wood / timber as a base raw material. Scientific institutions with expertise in wood construction might be interesting partners as well.
The idea behind choosing solid wood (e.g. plywood or compound material) as a raw material is environmentally (non-petroleum based and renewable) and aesthetically (feel and beauty) driven. Additionally it is about the question: why did the material become kind of unfashionable in the field of vehicle engineering? Is it due to its static and dynamic properties? Exchange of ideas and approaches with experts in this field is envisaged. The company is not interested in fibre-based approaches because of fossil resins and because they want to avoid mould making in the production process.
Technical Specifications / Specific technical requirements:
- Calculation tools for CAD software implementation.
- Material data on mechanical stiffness for different types of wood.
