A energy research company in Sweden is currently working on a forest residue project measuring moisture in chipped forest residues.
One of the main objectives is to evaluate and present options in both online measurements of chipped forest residues and also for chips in piles and on trucks. The company is looking for methods to measure the water content in chipped forest residues. The company is looking for technical cooperation and commercial agreements to implement the novel technique.
The company is currently working on a forest residue project with the major biomass companies in the northern part of Sweden.
The main objectives is to evaluate and present options in both online measurements of chipped forest residues but also chips in piles and on trucks.
The problem is to measure frozen material in the winter with fractions of snow and ice in the mixture.
The company has done research to measure water in non frozen chipped forest residue but have no methods for frozen biomass.
The company is now seeking techniques for measuring moisture content in frozen biomass. The method should be easy to use and evaluate and it should be able to be used online. The same technique, or parts of it should of course also be functional on non frozen material.
The company is interested in commercial systems but also techniques and systems currently in a development face.
Technical Specifications / Specific technical requirements:
- The moisture content to measure is about: 30-70%.
- Online measuring.
- The method should be able to measure and evaluate big amounts of chipped forest residue, from 10 to 1000 m3.
- It should be able to work in temperatures from +50 to -25 degree Celsius.
