A long established Scottish company which manufactures high quality woollen products is looking for a means of automating the process of attaching swing tickets to tag locks ready for attachment to the finished product. They are seeking a collaborative partner, either industrial or academic, who can design or develop a machine which is capable of doing this.
A long established Scottish company which manufactures high end woollen products including delicate scarves, throws, wraps and pashminas is seeking to improve the efficiency of the final product presentation process by automating the attachment of swing tickets to tag locks.
Swing tickets are branded pieces of cardboard containing garment, promotional and company information. Tag locks are branded pieces of cord onto which the swing tickets are threaded and secured by a plastic barb.
The attachment of tag locks and swing tickets to finish a garment is particularly time consuming. Each individual swing ticket required must be threaded on to the tag which is then locked prior to being attached to the garment. The number and types of swing tickets to be threaded varies in line with the individual client's needs. Swing tickets can vary in thickness, size and shape.
The company is looking for an engineering solution to this process and seeks to collaborate with industrial or academic partners who can design or develop a machine capable of performing the threading of swing tickets onto a tag lock and the fastening of the tag lock.
Technical Specifications / Specific technical requirements:
The mechanical solution would need to cope with a variety of size, thickness and combinations of swing tickets in addition to being able to hold slightly different sizes of tag locks.
The company processes up to 2 million units per annum.
Photographs and samples of the tag locks can be provided as necessary.
