An Italian company acting in the sector of fuel cell systems for mission-critical backup power applications is looking for a metal sheet to be used as an electrode for alkaline cells. The peculiarity of the electrode is that it has to be of two different materials at its sides: one side must be made of carbon steel and the other one of nickel.
The company is looking for technical cooperation.
The company is a leading provider of hydrogen backup power fuel cell systems: their products replace batteries and diesel engines providing increased reliability, reduced TCO and no emissions.
The company has a number of products with multiple power output (1.5 kW, 3kW, 6kW and 12kW), multiple voltage output and two different technology platforms. Both of these platforms guarantee 10,000 hours of operation to meet different customer needs.
A metal sheet is required to be used as an electrode for alkaline cells. The peculiarity of the electrode is that it has to be of two different materials at its sides: one side must be made of carbon steel and the other one of nickel.
The company also developed a self-recharging fuel cell system: this product, which is currently used in Europe, Asia and Central America is completely self-sufficient and self-recharging, consumes only water, produces no greenhouse gas emissions and is optimized to run on both on the mains and renewable sources.
The company targets telecommunication networks and utilities, already has clients in major European countries and is currently testing its products in Asia and America.
Technical Specifications / Specific technical requirements:
Spray/chemical bath coating of nickel on one side of a carbon steel sheet could be an option, but a high level of uniformity in the distribution must be achieved.
The electrode must be resistant to electro-chemical corrosion as it is inserted in a NaOH (or KOH) solution and in contact with hydrogen gas (carbon steel side) and oxygen gas (nickel side).
Material of the electrode: side one nickel, side two carbon steel (preferred) or AISI304.
Dimension: a metallic disc, diameter=250mm, Thickness=0,6mm.
