A UK SME has embarked on the development of new heat management systems based on nanofluid coolants. The company's main area of specialism is in the design and manufacture of bespoke heat management solutions for its clients. As part of its new product development activities the company is looking for partners who can provide precisely engineered nanoparticles both in a powder form and dispersed in a carrier liquid.
The Company is looking for an organisation who has established technologies for manufacturing and dispersing precisely engineering nanoparticles into carrier liquids such as water, water/glycol mixtures and oils. The organisation sort by our client is one who can offer nanofluids that have already been tested to clearly demonstrate significant thermal enhancement for use in heat transfer or cooling applications. Our client has partnered closely with a large industrial engineering multinational and hence this request for a nanofluid coolant represents a significant opportunity for commercialisation following further application specific development work.
Technical Specifications / Specific technical requirements:
With regards to the composition of the nanoparticles, the company is open to suggestions offered by the responding organisation. They may be metal, metal oxides or non-metal based nanoparticles. Offering organisations must be able to demonstrate enhancement in the thermal performance of their nanofluid by presenting and discussing existing test results. Enhancement in thermal performance could be demonstrated by enhanced thermal conductivity of the nanofluid compared to the base liquid. More importantly, it could be demonstrated with regards to enhancement in the heat transfer co-efficient with respect to the carrier liquid under the same mass flow rate and/or pumping power conditions. The company is especially interested in nanofluids that also demonstrate reduction in viscosity.
