Název projektu:
New Automatic Gear based on Planetary CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission). (12 IL 80EP 3NWS)
Popis:
New groundbreaking CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission) based on gearwheels, is a user and environmentally friendly automatic transmission type. It is used in vehicles and in passenger cars. The CVT selects the exact gear ratio needed in driving. Strategic partners are sought for further development, mass production, joint venture, licensing or financial resources.
Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) is a user and environmentally friendly automatic type transmission that can be used in different industries as well as in transportation. Basically, the purpose of CVT is to continuously vary the transmission ratio. The idea of CVT has been known for years; however its implementation, especially in vehicles, has faced various problems.
The traditional CVT's in the market today (Van Doorne Transmission types) are based on friction two metal conical drums interconnected via a metal V-belt immersed in oil. Slippage is caused due to the conflicting forces between the tightened belt and the oil attaching the metal surfaces, big forces are acting on the metal belt to prevent slippage. This causes erosion and wear to the surfaces, thus shortening transmission life. Forces due to the V-chain are even larger.
The proposed CVT avoids these downfalls. It avoids the excess forces, changes the gear ratio in a continuously manner such that the vehicle always functions optimally providing improved engine dragging and fuel consumption.
The invented CVT is based on gearwheels instead of friction. It is more compact in size, uses a smaller number of parts and has a simpler and durable structure using only one drum instead of two (as in traditional solutions). It contains built in clutch, and no "AT Torque Converter" is needed.
It is comprised of a sun gear connected to the input shaft and a ring gear connected to an output shaft. Planetary gears are positioned between and engaged with the sun gear and the ring gear wherein a planet carrier that vertically encloses the ring gear and the planet carrier provides a canal in which an oil pump is provided. A control valve is capable of controlling the flow of lubricant within the canal.
A compact and mobile demonstration model has been built (not for test bench) that provides a proof of concept and demonstrates the planned advantages.
Gear Ratio
In cars the gear ration may be 1/4 or 1/5 or more up to 1/1 or less as in conventional transmissions. In trucks a gear ratio of 1/16 may be obtained using two drums one inside the other (tandem). The gear ratio can change immediately without any delay.
Provided efficiency of 100% in last gear 1/1 due to the lockup device, in this state all the gearwheels and the oil pump are locked together to the planet carrier (no spinning parts inside), so the input and output are joined and rotate as one unit.
The invention does not include the clutch coming from the engine which is connected to the gear handle nor the reverse gearwheel.
A patent has been applied in Europe, Canada, Japan, in USA the statuse is: allowed application.
The company is seeking to develop a more advanced prototype that can be integrated with a complete transmission solution. Joint Venture or Licensing may also be an option.
The invention has been examined and validated by a laboratory of mechanical and vehicular engineering and faculty of combustion engine laboratory at a leading Technology/ Engineering university.
The solution demonstrates the following benefits:
1. Uses only one drum instead of two drums in conventional methods in use today. As such, there are a smaller number of parts, less weight and volume.
2. Saves the clutch, No "AT Torque Converter" is needed.
3. Lower gear production costs are realized due to the smaller number and volume of parts. This benefits the manufacturers and may lower the price to the consumer as well.
4. Lower fuel consumption benefits both the consumer and the environment.
5. A more comfortable and enjoyable drive "No "jumps" between gears.
6. Smooth clutch performance "moving the vehicle from a stationary state to moving position is smooth as in the existing automatic transmissions but without continuous slippage due to their hydraulic clutch.
7. Efficiency "the CVT continuously delivers optimal torque from the engine to the vehicle wheels/Provides optimal traction and fuel consumption.
8. Increased gear life-cycle - a non friction based solution that avoids the wear suffered by traditional methods based on friction between metal parts.
Technical Specifications / Specific technical requirements:
The proposed CVT is based on planetary gear combined with oil pumps.
The company is seeking companies with following capabilities:
1. Expert in designing of oil pumps, a specially the kind of G-rotor type.
2. Expert in research and technology development engineering in powertrain systems.
3. Transmission manufacturer certificated in "Tier 1 Supplier" in the automotive industry.
The analysis of CVT, identification and examination of areas in the design of prototype need to be performed.
