Název projektu:
Novel Wall Insulation Materials and/or Installation Methods Suitable for the Domestic Retrofit Market (11 LU 87GA 3ND5)
Popis:
A large US company is looking for proposals for novel and cost effective wall insulation materials and/or installation methods that can be applied on existing houses.
They are interested in supplier agreement, licensing agreement.
The 2009 UK Electricity and Gas saving program order has set out measures for achieving carbon emission reductions from the domestic sector through energy consumption savings and increased energy efficiency.
In order to meet their obligations the company will need to treat more than 10.000 properties by measures like boiler replacement, fuel switching, draught proofing and installing insulation.
Insulating of walls of existing houses in an efficient and cost effective way can be problematic. Most insulating methods are suitable for newly build houses and retrofitting is difficult and expensive and can lead to ventilation and damp condensation issues.
The company has experience with commercially available insulation materials but is looking for innovative solutions.
Possible approaches include, but are not limited to:
-Novel materials that can be applied as a coating
-Novel techniques suitable for existing commercially available materials (e.g. reducing the requirements for scaffolding)
-Installation methods that minimize waste
-Methods to recover heat lost in the walls and used for warming cool air coming into the building.
The following approaches are not of interest:
-Solutions that are environmentally unfriendly
-Solutions containing toxic materials
-Solutions that are not suitable for the building industry (international standards).
Technical Specifications / Specific technical requirements:
The successful technology will:
-Be applicable for the domestic retrofit housing market:
Cost effective material
Cost effective installation either inside a solid wall or external on the wall (e.g. minimal need for scaffolding)
Both cavity wall insulation and solid wall insulation are within the scope of this request
-Maintain or increase building user comfort:
Better noise dampening
Allow adequate ventilation
Reduces condensation problems (e.g. at cold junctions)
-Be thermally stable and meet all relevant standards
-Not show a decay of insulating performance and be maintenance free for a period of 25+ years
-Preferable have a low ecological footprint (e.g. make use of recycled materials)
-Preferably have IP that allows exclusivity for intended use.
