Název projektu:
PS - FP7 - Innovative processing system based on resin transfer moulding and pultrusion for the production of green and safe childcare products (11 ES 23D1 3LSC)
Popis:
A Spanish research centre searches partners to participate in a project aimed to develop green and safe childcare products (mainly prams, pushchairs, cots) to fulfil the needs of different groups of children. They should be pultrusion profiles producers or resins manufacturer or formulator, capable to validate the production processes.
The objective of the project is to develop green and safe childcare products (mainly prams, pushchairs, cots) to fulfil the need of the different groups of children. For this, the follow innovations will be proposed:
- Green thought the use bio-based thermoset resins as a matrix and natural fabrics as reinforcement. These materials have low carbon print impact and permit an environmental friendly manage at the end of their life.
- Minimize the number of mechanic joints and metallic parts of current products to increase their safe and comfort through the modification of current processing technologies pultrusion (1) and RTM (2) to be adapted to the proposed flexible mould technology. RTM technology must permit to reduce the number of steps to produce a specific childcare product and to avoid the use of mechanical joints, and then different plastic structures can be created with versatile designs. The profiles produced with pultrusion can compete with traditional metal profiles such as steel and aluminium for strength and weight.
- Cost competitive thanks to the development of flexible mould technology avoiding the competence of low-cost and standard childcare products produced in Asian countries.
- Design freedom by increasing customer interaction regarding trends and new requirements through design solutions and orientation towards specific consumer needs, such as comfort, safety, customization, health and well-being.
The project will permit to the childcare sector an advanced innovation in terms of comfort, safety and quality. Many of the current innovations in this sector are based only on aesthetics parameters. The new design, processing and materials possibilities that the project offers will lead to develop new childcare products adapted to the real needs of the children. The technology involved will be adapted to the children special needs and/or avoid future healthy problems due to stay for a long time in non-ergonomic and non customized devices.
The value chain of the consortium is based in the coverage of the following steps: KNOW HOW CHILDCARE PRODUCTS PROCESSORS - VALIDATORS.
So that, the consortium is looking for processes' validators (RTM and pultrusion manufacturers) and resins and RTM moulds' manufacturers located in EU countries (except Spain).
1 Pultrusion is an automated manufacturing process for the production of constant cross-sectionally shaped profiles of fibber reinforced composites.
2 In RTM Resin Transfer moulding process the resin is injected or drawn into a mould, which contains the fibres, from a homogeniser under low pressure.
Technical Specifications / Specific technical requirements:
The value chain of the consortium is based in the coverage of the following steps: KNOW HOW CHILDCARE PRODUCTS PROCESSORS - VALIDATORS.
The searched partner should be a non-Spanish SMEs with any of the follow profiles:
- Pultrusion profiles producer
- Resins manufacturer or formulator
The role of the partner in the project will be manufacturing the moulds and validating the designed processes.
The proposal is being prepared for the next Research for SMEs call.
This call is a measure in the Seventh Framework Programme to support small groups of innovative SMEs in solving common or complementary technological problems and acquiring technological know-how.
It is addressed to the large community of SMEs with a capacity to innovate but with limited research capabilities.
It is foreseen to open next July, 20th and close on December, 6th.
The proposal is already conceived and partially written, waiting for the final consortium composition, which is currently made up of two RTDs, a SME for the process monitoring & Control and two SMEs manufacturers of childcare articles.
Processes validators are now required.
