Název projektu:
PS: Eurostars - Development of a multilingual matching machine (11 DE 19A6 3N3S)
Popis:
A German SME is looking for a partner for the development of an IT matching tool allowing to determine closeness of content between 2 profiles / projects. Linguistic methodologies of onthology and semantics should be integrated. In the next step, a function for international multilingual matching will be implemented. The partner should be specialised in semantic software development with Java background and provide the language / semantic know-how for the co-development of the matching engine.
Overall aim and objective of the proposed project:
The company provides a platform for the matching of freelance project developers and clients looking for specialists. It currently covers the following sectors:
- IT
- Consulting
- Creative
- Engineering
- Medical
- Fashion
Matching in the sense of pattern matching in internet queries are quite common. Up to date, all these processes base on fulltext research / indices (mono-directional). Job search engines or partner search engines work with these processes.
Real bi-directional matching would make it possible to determine closeness regarding the content between 2 objects (profiles / projects) and to put it into relation to a third object.
Therefore, in the planned project a standard gauge measure should be developed which should become the basis for real bi-directional matching. This means that terms continue to play a role but also a number of further factors. Linguistic methodologies and concepts related to onthology and semantics will be integrated into the development.
In times of increasing globalisation also of labour markets matching crossing lingual and cultural borders is becoming ever more important. Therefore, it is envisaged to expand this platform also internationally. The bi-directional matching function is one necessary condition for international matching. In addition, the platform should also be developed in order to integrate language matching functions.
The current development platform is Java. Since for the matching probably mathematical algorithms will be necessary, a functional language like Scala oder jClosure might be more appropriate for developing a solution. No decision for this has yet been taken, though.
The following type of expertise for the development is sought for:
Language, Semantic and cultural matching: The partner should be a company with software development skills with java background. In the project he should provide know-how in semantic / cultural / multilingual software development. The partner should analyse the approach of the basic matching machine regarding linguistic aspects theoretically and implement the software technology together with the German company.
Duration of the project is planned for 3 years.
Technical Specifications / Specific technical requirements:
The proposal should be submitted for the next Eurostars cut-off-date on 1/3/2012. The proposal is currently under development. Information on the planned budget can be given upon request.
The main participant would be a German research-intensive SME. The partner sought for preferably should be an SME.
