A UK SME is seeking a partner with graphical user interface design expertise to join a Eurostars project proposal. The aim of the project is to develop a new enhanced e-learning software which will incorporate software tools and processes for comparison of attainment and collaboration between teachers, in order to create a Europe-wide network for sharing maths teaching expertise.
The ENMESH project is designed to create a network of maths teachers across Europe, allowing them to communicate, collaborate, and measure the performance of their pupils against common benchmarks, with the aim of giving teachers the best possible tools for improving the numeracy skills of their students.
The final product will be a European solution which will allow students in a number of EU countries to benefit from the e-learning model, and give their teachers access to a network of contacts, discussion, user-generated content, best practice guidance, as well as a way to measure and compare pupil performance, not only against other pupils or other schools in the same country, but across the whole of Europe.
The software content, including web-based exercises and support resources, and the web-based UI and user guides, will be translated into a number of languages spanning the range of national mathematical attainment, encompassing both world-leaders and those lagging behind the European average. It is anticipated that these languages will be Dutch, Spanish, German, Polish or Estonian, and Finnish. The ENMESH software suite will also provide machine-translation and machine-aided translation tools to allow teachers who do not necessarily share a common language to share ideas, resources and lesson plans with other ENMESH users across Europe, surmounting the language barrier and spreading teaching best practice.
