Název projektu:
PS: FP7 - Cinnamon: Community driven system for smart environmental monitoring (11 ES 24D4 3M9J)
Popis:
A Spanish company is looking for European partners (not Spanish) for a FP7 research project which objective is to develop an innovative mobile system for gathering information about the state of pollution, noise and driving-efficiency in municipalities. Companies, Research Centers and City Government are sought to complete the consortium. Several tasks related to workpackages are expected from the partner described in below fields.
Context of proposal:
Mobilising environmental knowledge for policy, industry and society is nowadays a top priority for public institutions. This could be achieved through stimulation of innovative approaches and tools to handle complexity, interactions and interfaces, and by improving knowledge transfer, assessment, valuation, uptake and exploitation of scientific data and results for policy, industry and society at large.
Citizens do not currently have real environmental monitoring and information platform that would allow the community to participate to an environmental stewardship.
Project aim:
The project's aim is to develop an innovative mobile system for gathering information about the state of pollution, noise and driving-efficiency in municipalities. The system will use mobile devices, special sensors and vehicles (such as cars) for collecting this info. One of the projects priorities is to design a system that seamlessly integrates with the vehicle and the driver. For that purpose, it will make extensive use of driver's mobile phone and miniaturized wireless sensors. These wireless sensors will monitor the car and driving behavior and external physical variables such as noise and pollution. Another important project priority is that the technology developed within the project is aligned with European policies in environment (e.g. EU directive in Management and quality of ambient air)
Having connected and sensing vehicles would have several benefits. Some of them are related to driving efficiency or safety. On top of that, if these systems are community driven, they can achieve ambitious goals, like collecting and sharing vast and precise environmental information.
The project leader already has some rich previous experience in mobile systems promoting driving efficiency & assistance in urban areas. One of the project's outcomes will be the generation of real-time maps showing the pollution of cities and public repositories with data mining indicators related to the variables monitored.
Progress beyond the state of art:
- Not such a system exists nowadays.
The main outcomes of the project would be:
- Developing of a new and miniaturized sensor system for gathering information about the state of pollution and noise that seamlessly integrates with vehicles and driver's mobile devices.
- Statistical analysis of the environmental information collected.
- Data warehouse system for storage of the information collected.
- An innovative way to carry on precise environmental analysis in vast areas.
- Environmental information accessible by citizens, government and scientific community by means of GEOSS system.
Technical Specifications / Specific technical requirements:
Topic ENVIRONMENT 2012.6.5-1
Proposal under development.
Requested EU funding (estimated): The requested European Union contribution per project shall not exceed EUR 9 000 000
The consortium is searching for:
- The City Government of three different European municipalities.
- SME - specialist in environmental monitoring, regulation and data analysis.
- R&D - institution specialised in the automotive sector or automobile manufacturer.
- SME manufacturer specialised in sensors for emissions and noise measurement.
