PS: FP7 - Partner Search - VIRtual TUtor for eLearning (11 ES 27F4 3LFU)
Popis:
An Andalusian SME with experience in Virtual worlds and Multimedia is currently preparing a proposal to be submitted within FP7-ICT Call 8. The project aims to develop a virtual tutor which will live in a virtual world and will be able to automatically interact with the students in natural language. The SME is looking for a coordinator and partners with expertise in the fields of computational intelligence, cognitive skills, eLearning.
An Andalusian SME very active in the fields of Virtual Worlds, Multimedia is currently preparing a proposal dealing with virtual support to e-learning for the Call 8 of ICT-FP7.
The proposal aims to eliminate these weak points creating a system capable to adapt to the cognitive abilities of the student, interacting in natural language and using an interface close to the learner: a humanized virtual tutor.
Main goal is to develop a virtual tutor which will live in a virtual world and will be able to automatically interact with the students in natural language. It will analyze the way each student learns and adapt the content and presentation to their cognitive skills. This will ease the learning process and will make it challenging but not too difficult that the student gets frustrated or too easy that the student gets bored.
The Andalusian SME also wants to research the possibility to integrate the system with the existing eLearning platforms in order to take advantage of the numerous courses and learning objects already prepared for them.
Required skills and Expertise of the Partner:
- Experts in computational intelligence (natural language processing and reasoning, pattern recognition, etc).
- Experts in cognitive skills.
- eLearning experts (with deep knowledge in the technical aspects of the main eLearning platforms).
- Experts in dissemination activities.
- Coordination capabilities.
- Education centres and/or authorities for demonstration purposes.
Several tasks are necessary to be achieved:
- Research and development of a reasoning engine capable to analyze the students input in native language, processing not only the answers or questions, but also recognizing the cognitive skills behind them and adapting the content and activities provided by the system.
- Development of a front-end (user interface) for the students to interact with. This will be performed in a virtual world.
- Development of a configuration backend in the form of a website or similar.
- Research and development of a process to adapt the content already existing in current eLearning platforms to the system.
- Development of an alternative front-end to be used in these eLearning platforms.
- Demonstration of the system in an educational environment such as a school, a university or a formative centre.
Technical Specifications / Specific technical requirements:
Call title: FP7 Cooperation
Call Identifier: ICT Call 8 (FP7-ICT-2011-8)
Challenge: Challenge 8: ICT for Learning and Access to Cultural Resources
Objective: 8.1 Technology-Enhanced Learning
Type of funding scheme: Collaborative Project (small or medium-scale focused research project targeted to SMEs).
Evaluation Scheme: One Step Proposal
Closure Date: 17/01/2012
Proposal development stage: The SME is seeking potential partners and a coordinator in the European countries. They have started to prepare a draft.
Requested EU funding: Depends on the final consortium (about 2.5 M¬)
