Název projektu:
PS: FP7-ENV-2012-second-stage: Industrial partner required for testing new ceramic materials with improved performances as better thermal and acoustic insulation (11 ES 27F4 3NRM)
Popis:
An Andalusian Technological Centre in the field of ceramic materials is looking for an industrial partner to be involved in a proposal in second stage phase to be submitted to FP7-ENV-2012 call. The company contribution will be the industrial testing of new raw materials which are obtained by means of mixing clay and waste rubbers. The objective is developing a new ceramic product with better thermal and acoustic insulation.
Nowadays, the production of waste is a serious problem to all countries around the world. Because of this, search for different ways to give useful solution to these materials is a priority in the new research lines. On the other hand, the clay has very strong properties to immobilize a large range of materials if the physical and chemical properties are appropriate. So, it is easy to explain why currently the interest in the use of clay with byproducts to obtain new ceramic products is increasing.
Going beyond, the next step would be that these ceramic products improve their properties to achieve better acoustic and thermal insulation or lighter products keeping the same strength. In this sense, some previous studies have been carried out by andalusian technologic centre with good results.
Although there are several studies about the use of byproducts in the ceramic formulation, there is not a specific study about the performance of ceramic products, when they are obtained by blending clay with rubber byproducts.
The rubber byproducts have an interesting composition and qualities, because of this, the new ceramic products incorporating this byproduct will be lighter, will have very interesting properties as better acoustic and thermal insulation and will keep a similar strength to those ceramic products without the rubber.
The project has pass the first stage of the selection process in the Call for proposal ENVIRONMENT 2012: TWO-STAGE of FP7, and has a lot of possibilities to achieve some European funds therefore this is a very good opportunity to be a part of an European project.
Project's organization:
To start this project there are two clue conditions: know the quality and characteristic of rubber waste and choose the clay to use. With these first steps, it will be easy to achieve the objectives of the project.
In respect to the rubber waste, the origin and qualities of the byproducts can vary. In order to choose the experimental material different criterias are considered:
" Volume in the trash." Material quality." Hazard's level." Compatibility with the clay." Physical and chemical properties." Price." Transport costs." Difficulty to achieve it.
Also, a critical aspect to take under consideration is the origin and the properties of the clay to use. There are two principal kinds of clays; those having melting properties and those with refractory properties. Starting from these main groups, it is necessary to know the chemical composition, the mineralogical properties, granulometry, plasticity and an important point, the amount of carbonates.
They are looking for a ceramic company which activities are focused in construction ceramics (bricks, tiles, etc) and which is in disposition to share its installations to make in industrial's testing of new raw materials obtained by means of mixing clay and waste rubbers.
