A Spanish research centre for wood, furniture and packaging industries, is looking for a European "wood based panel and parquet SME" to participate in the project. The overall objective of the project is to test a new eco-material, and develop its industrial applications for timber, veneering of wood panels and furniture to be used in sustainable buildings. The role of the partner will be to manufacture the wood based panels with the eco-material while defining the material requirements.
The project idea is aimed to deepen in the research and investigation of a new eco-material, and the development of industrial applications in the fields of sustainable buildings in the sectors of timber, veneering of wood panels and furniture.
The eco-material extraction has been already patented by the project promoter and came from the exploitation of a vegetal waste very abundant that comes from the agro-industries involved in the production of coconuts in Brazil (it is not the coconut fibrous husk, which is largely exploited and industrially processed).
The wood based panel and parket SME manufacturers will be involved into the fabrication of a wood based panel made by this eco-material (plywood, veneering, etc.) and involved into the material requirement definition (packaging, mechanization, etc.) and into the cost analysis.
The final project objective is to compare the normal wood panel with the prototypes in terms of quality, mechanical, acoustic, thermal behaviour and production costs.
Laboratory tests have already been done on this material. They show that it could be used for eco-products (eco-furniture) also for the texture of the fibre aspect (in the case of veneering wood panel).
The searched partners should only be SMEs that manufacture wood based panel and parket.

The project will be applied into the call Research for SMEs: FP7_SME_2011_Activity 2.1, that closes on 6th December 2011.
The proposal has already been developed, but at least 2 SMEs are still needed. The budget has to be outlined yet.
Financial programme percentage is 110%, which 100% is addressed to RTD actions for RTD centre.
Partnership is divided into RTD centre (1 in Brazil 2 in Spain), one Spanish SME (project promoter) and at least 2 SMEs for wood panel prototypes development to be found in Europe.
The SMEs will arrange an agreement on the "intellectual property right" of the project results for their future economic exploitation. RTDs centre could not be beneficiaries of the project results.
