Název projektu:
Tackifying Resin for Hot Melt Adhesives (11 LU 87GA 3MDU)
Popis:
A large US company is looking for proposals for new chemical basis for tackifying resin for polyolefin or styrenic block copolymer based hot melt adhesives.
The current shortage of hydrocarbon based tackifying resins has created an opportunity for alternative chemicals that meet the performance criteria and are not capacity constrained.
They are interested in joint development, supply agreement or licensing.
The company produces olefin and styrenic block-copolymer-based hot melt adhesives, which use tackifying resins that are currently in short supply. The company would like to investigate news sources of supply for these materials.
Tackifying resins are relatively low molecular weight materials that are generally friable solids at room temperature. They are added to various high molecular weight polymers to lower the viscosity and increase the adhesion and tack of the resultant hot melt adhesive formulation.
The following approaches are not of interest:
- C5 or C9 based resins
- Rosin ester resins
- Tall oil resins
Technical Specifications / Specific technical requirements:
The successful technology will:
- Provide a viable alternative to existing hydro-carbon, and rosin ester-based tackifying resins
- Be compatible with olefinic and/or styrenic block copolymers (SBC's)
- Be non toxic
Preferably be safe for indirect food contact
- Have the following physical properties
Molecular weight (Mw)‹2000
Preferably have softening point in the range 100-130°C
- Be heat stable (withstand 100 hours at 180°C with minimal change in properties)
- Preferably have neutral color
Garden color ‹ 6 (neat)
- Not have an offensive odor.
