Název projektu:
Textile-reinforced concrete - EEN
Popis:
Textile-reinforced concrete has many advantages compared to the usual steel-reinforced concrete. In cooperation with a research institute and other companies, a medium sized German construction company and a large textile company have realised a bridge with this new type of reinforcement. Both companies are open for development projects for other type of buildings. A joined cooperation is the preferred type of collaboration.
Požadavky na partnera:
The first textile-reinforced concrete pedestrian bridge has been realised by German companies with the support of research institutes. Half the amount of concrete is needed to realise the required maximum load of the bridge compared to steel based concrete. Up until now, statically-reinforced concrete is based on steel. Pitting corrosion of the steel is one of the big maintenance problems of this type of concrete. Glass fibre, on which the textile concrete is based, does not rust. Therefore the concrete layer surrounding the reinforcement (armoring) can be much thinner. In the case of the bridge with almost 100 meter length 200 tonnes of concrete instead of only 400 tonnes was needed.
On top of the big advantage with corrosion this glass fiber based reinforcement has a much higher tensile strength per cross section as the commonly used steel.
Since the steel based constructions are well stabilised they are still cheaper to produce also half the amount of concrete can be saved. A further disadvantage is the standardization. Standards which describe the use of textile-reinforced concrete do not exist yet. In the case of the bridge an individual check by the local authorities was necessary.
In claddings, different types of materials often have to be included, insulation and water barriers, as well as reinforced concrete. These so-called sandwich panels can be much thinner and lighter using textile-reinforced concrete.
Both companies collected a lot of experience in dealing with individual approval from the authorities. This will help to realise all kind of projects with textile reinforced concrete for e.g. in claddings.
Innovative Aspects:
The advantages of the textile-reinforced concrete in comparison to common concrete are:
- less amount of concrete needed
- less maintenance costs due to lack of corrosion
- new design possibilities.
Degree of development: Available for demonstration - field tested
Patents/Rights: Patent(s) granted
Requested Cooperation: License Agreement, Joint further development, Testing of new applications, Adaptation to specific needs, Joint Venture Agreement
- Type of partner sought:
Construction company or company focused on building materials.
- Specific area of activity of the partner:
Innovative building/construction/material
- Task to be performed by the partner sought:
New type of buildings, new ideas for applications of textile-reinforced concrete and help with further
commercialisation.
