Název projektu:
Ultra Small Electronic-Scanning Ultrasonic Transducer for High Resolution Imaging (11 US 87GA 3LXF)
Popis:
A large US company is looking for proposals for creating high density arrays of ultra small electronic-scanning ultrasonic transducers. These transducers will be incorporated onto a cylindrical medical device to enable high resolution imaging. They are interested in licensing, joint / contract development.
The client seeks technology that can enable high resolution imaging with a high-density array of ultra small electronic scanning ultrasonic transducers on a cylindrical tip of a catheter.
The client has manufactured and sold globally various types of catheters. They also have products that use ultrasound technology.
In the area of research related to the miniaturization of ultrasonic transducers, there are reports of development of MUTs (micro-machined ultrasonic transducers) using MEMS technology. It is also believed that semiconductor processes can be used to meet the above need.
In order to further accelerate the technology development of the catheter composed of electronic-scanning ultrasonic transducers, the client has issued this open request for proposals from various fields.
Possible approaches might include, but are not limited to:
- Transducers and multiplexer combined in a single body
- MUTs (micro-machined ultrasonic transducers)
- Matrix-type ultrasonic arrays
- Particle ultrasonic transducers
- Laser-excited ultrasonic transducers
- Piezoelectric polycrystalline film transducers
- Ultra small sized ultrasonic array sensors.
The following approaches are not of interest:
- Mechanically scanning transducers.
Anticipated fields of respondents include, but are not necessarily limited to the following:
- MEMS
- Semiconductor processes
- Nanotechnologies
- Nanoparticles.
Technical Specifications / Specific technical requirements:
Requirements for technology:
- Can arrange transducers with a thickness ‹0.2 mm on a cylindrical circumference (polyethylene, nylon, fluorine resine, etc.) which has an outer diameter of 0.6 mm (total outer diameter ‹ 1 mm)
- The length of the portion, where the transducers are arrayed, plus the multiplexer is ‹ 3 mm (including the electronic scanning function)
- Can realize the following resolution:
Lateral resolution: 200µm, up to a distance of 5 mm (‹ 100 µm within three years)
Axial resolution: 100 µm, up to a distance of 5 mm (‹40 µm within three years)
- The frequency, number and arrangement of the transducers are artibrary
- Disposable use.

Požadavky na partnera:
Requested Cooperation: License Agreement, Joint further development
Responses from companies (large or small, startups, etc.), hospital or academic researchers, contract research institutes, pharmacologists, nutritionists, medicinal chemists, drug formulators, biochemists, physiologists, alternative or traditional medicine providers, etc., from around the world are all welcome.
ANTICIPATED PROJECT PHASES OR PROJECT PLAN
The client will review proposals and possibly ask clarifying questions or request supporting data before selecting the most suitable candidates for collaboration. The client will execute non-disclosure agreements (DNA) with selected respondents, seek further information disclosure, and discuss development targets. The client will select the best candidates through evaluations of prototypes, face to face meetings, conference call, etc.
The client will execute necessary agreement(s) with the selected respondent(s) and kick off the project to establish the technology (three years). The detailed development plan will be discussed.
